L’opera “World and me” si aggiudica all’unanimità il premio per il Miglior Cortometraggio per la forza del suo messaggio, veicolata da una semplice, ma efficace scelta di messa in scena. Di grande impatto visivo l’uso dei campi larghi e delle location, che ben rappresentano il senso di sofferenza del Pianeta a fronte del cambiamento climatico. L’espressività del giovane protagonista sottolinea la dura lotta che le generazioni presenti e future dovranno affrontare oggi, come domani, per  cercare di correre in soccorso di una natura duramente maltrattata nel corso della storia dell’uomo.”

The work “World and Me” unanimously wins the award for Best Short Film for the strength of its message, conveyed through a simple, yet effective staging choice. The use of wide shots and locations, which well represent the sense of the Planet’s suffering in the face of climate change, is of great visual impact. The expressiveness of the young protagonist highlights the tough battle that the present and future generations will have to face today and tomorrow, in an effort to come to the rescue of a nature that has been severely mistreated throughout human history.

La regia di “Chal” di Asghar Besharati si distingue per la sua capacità di catturare in modo eloquente e simbolico l’impatto dei cambiamenti ambientali sulla vita e sulla sostenibilità del nostro pianeta. Il film si apre con una sequenza in cui un drone sorvola un fiume in rapida diminuzione, simbolo tangibile delle sfide ambientali che affrontiamo. La sequenza successiva, che ritrae i pescatori impegnati nella raccolta di pesci morenti insieme agli uccelli, è un’espressione viscerale della lotta per la sopravvivenza in un ambiente che sta rapidamente cambiando; l’immagine iconica del pesce che agonizza in un’impronta umana rappresenta una potente metafora visiva, incarnando la responsabilità dell’umanità nei confronti della natura, sottolineando l’impatto diretto delle nostre azioni sulla vita selvatica e sull’equilibrio ecologico.

The direction of “Chal” by Asghar Besharati stands out for its ability to eloquently and symbolically capture the impact of environmental changes on life and the sustainability of our planet. The film opens with a sequence where a drone flies over a rapidly diminishing river, a tangible symbol of the environmental challenges we face. The following sequence, which depicts fishermen collecting dying fish alongside birds, is a visceral expression of the struggle for survival in an environment that is rapidly changing; the iconic image of the fish gasping in a human footprint represents a powerful visual metaphor, embodying humanity’s responsibility towards nature, highlighting the direct impact of our actions on wildlife and the ecological balance.

The Angler riesce a catturare con maestria l’essenza visiva del cambiamento climatico portandoci in un mondo dove la linea tra realtà e fantasia si confonde. Le tonalità biancastre del mare in secca sono contrastate con l’azzurro  etereo del cielo, creando una sensazione di desolazione e speranza. La fotografia si capovolge: il mare diventa cielo ed il cielo diventa mare. I grandangoli iniziali aggiungono ulteriore profondità alla narrazione visiva, evocando pesantezza accentuata da giustificatissimi dutch angle. Una testimonianza visiva del cambiamento climatico e della resilienza umana di fronte alla natura mutevole del nostro pianeta.

The Angler masterfully captures the visual essence of climate change, transporting us to a world where the line between reality and fantasy blurs. The whitish hues of the dried-up sea are contrasted with the ethereal blue of the sky, creating a sense of desolation and hope. The photography inverts itself: the sea becomes the sky, and the sky becomes the sea. The initial wide angles add further depth to the visual narrative, evoking a heaviness accentuated by perfectly justified dutch angles. A visual testimony to climate change and human resilience in the face of our planet’s changing nature.

“CIAO BELLA” di Peter Vadocz

Il premio per la miglior sceneggiatura va a “Ciao Bella” di Peter Vadocz, Italia. Quello che ha colpito la giuria è stata la semplicità e l’efficacia con cui affronta il tema del cambiamento climatico, iniziando con momenti di spensieratezza di una bambina, momenti che rappresentano il ricordo di quello che fu e che forse allora si è dato per scontato, per poi passare alla cruda realtà di una melanconica donna adulta e di una Venezia che non può tornare più. La giustapposizione della bellezza dei ricordi d’infanzia con la vista di un paesaggio sommerso crea un effetto shock che porta lo spettatore a riflettere.

The award for the best screenplay goes to “Ciao Bella” by Peter Vadocz, Italy. What struck the jury was the simplicity and effectiveness with which it addresses the theme of climate change, beginning with moments of carefreeness of a little girl, moments that represent the memory of what once was and perhaps was taken for granted, to then move to the harsh reality of a melancholic adult woman and a Venice that can no longer return. The juxtaposition of the beauty of childhood memories with the sight of a submerged landscape creates a shocking effect that leads the viewer to reflect.

“BACK HOME” di Jacob Maximillian Baron

“Back Home” emerge come una perla rara nel panorama dei cortometraggi realizzati con lo smartphone, meritandosi una menzione speciale per la sua capacità di tessere un narrativa post-apocalittica di straordinaria potenza. Il film dipinge un universo in cui la “casa” si trasforma in un santuario, l’ultimo baluardo di sicurezza in un mondo esterno sull’orlo della follia. Al di là delle soglie domestiche, l’esistenza si dibatte tra la sopravvivenza quotidiana e cataclismi incessanti, ma è proprio in questo rifugio che il protagonista trova il coraggio di danzare, in un atto di sfida mentre all’esterno imperversa l’apocalisse. Il cortometraggio si distingue per la sua audace contrapposizione di elementi: le grida disperate fanno da contraltare a melodie disco-dance, creando un’atmosfera surreale. L’estetica deliberatamente punk, cruda e artigianale, insieme alla scelta di una colonna sonora antitetica, evoca un profondo senso di disagio. “Back Home” è un invito a una riflessione critica sull’esistenza, sulla sopravvivenza, e su quello che tutti noi dovremmo considerare  come: “casa”.

The short film stands out for its bold juxtaposition of elements: desperate cries counterbalance disco-dance melodies, creating a surreal atmosphere. The deliberately punk, raw, and artisanal aesthetic, together with the choice of an antithetical soundtrack, evokes a profound sense of unease. “Back Home” is an invitation to a critical reflection on existence, survival, and what we all should consider as “home.”
